Cusco at 11,000 feet

We arrived in Cusco about 8:00 last night from going to Machu Picchu. The roads here are unlight and very winding. It made me a little nervous considering how fast the driver was going, but we got here in record time. This morning (Friday) we had a brief city tour. It was cut a little short because of a parade in the main plaza. The parade was for June 24th Festival of the Sun. They have a parade on what appears to be Friday, Saturday and Sunday leading up to the 24th. Friday is for elementary school Children. Many, many children dressed up in various native costumes and performing a "tribal-like" dance.
Plaza is very, very crowded during the parade and all sorts of food and jewelry vendors trying to sell things. Tonight we have the city by night tour and will have dinner and a folklore dance.
